Qigong has Something for Everyone

Qigong is often seen as kind of a mysterious thing…

It can bring to mind weird kung fu dudes, groups of older folks in the park, elusive mountain hermits in Asia..

The truth is, Qigong has (at the very least a little) something for everyone.

Qi isn’t such a mystery.. it’s all the energies in and around our bodies, and the functions that these energies fulfill. Our bodies are living landscapes, One with the Nature in which we are immersed. The Daoist Way aims to maintain health and harmony with all the different layers of our bodies, inside and out.

Qigong is a very broad term for a wide variety of movement and meditation practices. It’s all about finding a flow state where our body, breath and mind are all aligned.

It can be as simple as sitting and feeling the subtle expansion and contraction of our being as we breathe.

It can be as challenging as a fullpower trip to the gym; blood pumping, muscles engaged and sweat pouring.

Qigong practices teach us to use our entire body as a unified whole. They help bring us deeper into our center, moving from this grounded and relaxed place with minimal effort and maximum efficiency. Even (and especially) when we're doing something challenging.

Qigong helps us unlearn and unwind the twisted patterns of trauma and tension which hold us in discomfort and disease. The meridians are seen as the rivers and streams of our living landscape, and these Qi practices and movements help clear blockages in the flow so our own inner environment can flourish.

This is truly holistic.. working on the interface of the physical body, the mind and emotions, and our Spirit. Because ultimately it’s All One.

What other practices and tools do you use to find greater balance and harmony in your Life?
